34-Year-Old Fake Prophet Arrested For Attempted Murder

Operatives from the Imo State Police Command’s Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department have detained a 50-year-old mother and a 34-year-old self-described prophet named Osinachi Makuo in connection with an attempted murder case.

Ike Ezenyi of Umuehi Mgbidi in Oru West LGA, Imo State, who is the father of a 24-year-old man named Ikenga Ezenyi, filed a petition alleging conspiracy, kidnapping, attempted murder, and grievous bodily harm with the Imo State Commissioner of Police, according to a statement released by the state police command’s spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye.

After receiving the petition, according to Okoye, CP Muhammad Barde, Commissioner of Police, swiftly ordered a thorough investigation into the case by State CIID investigators.

He claims that while the followers of the 34-year-old prophet are still at large, the smart and inquisitive investigators sprang into action right away and captured the suspects.

According to him, an investigation into the incident showed that the two suspects had planned to kidnap Ikenga Ezenyi. They then took him to Uzunamu Mgbidi in Orlu L.G.A. for prayers and deliverance, where his hands and feet were chained for three days.

The victim was extensively tormented, according to the PPRO, until both of his palms swelled, rotted, and the flesh ruptured before he was saved by his father and other youth from the Uzunamu Community and taken to the hospital for treatment.

He said that the victim had been subjected to cruel treatment, which resulted in the hospital amputation of his palms in order to protect him from the decaying palms.

After the investigation is over, the suspects will be arraigned in court, according to a police spokesman.

Okoye said that the state’s police chief, CP Mohammed Ahmed, had warned Imo State residents to be wary of criminals who operate in the state under the garb of prophets and prophetesses, prayer warriors, and healing houses to commit terrible crimes.

He stated that the police chief has also committed to finding all crimes of a similar nature in the State, and he urged the law-abiding citizens of the state to report any abnormalities of a similar type and other crimes to the police immediately or by calling the Command.
