Sunday Igboho Allegedly Seeks Asylum In Benin Republic

Fresh reports coming in suggest that the famous Yoruba fighter called Sunday Adeyemo fondly called Sunday Igboho has purportedly requested asylum in Benin Republic.

Recall that Sunday Igboho and his wife Ropo were nabbed in Cotonou, Benin Republic while attempting to fly to Germany. He was arrested on charges of trying to fly with a fake Beninoise passport.

According to a close source, Sunday has filed for an application to seek asylum in Benin Republic.

“He (Igboho) was already at the airport with a passport. The immigration officers suspected his passport to be fake and so they stopped him. A passport was allegedly forged for Igboho in the Benin Republic for the purpose of the Germany trip.

At the airport, they discovered he was the one. Igboho has already applied for asylum in Germany and he hopes to file a similar application in Benin Republic in the coming days,” the source told Punch

In other development, Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organization, has declared that God will “deal with” President Buhari, despite the Federal government’s plans to seek the repatriation of Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo alias Sunday Igboho.

On Monday, July 19, Igboho was detained in the Benin Republic while attempting to fly to Germany with his wife, Ropo. On Thursday, he was detained and charged with possessing a fraudulent Benin passport in a Beninoise court.
According to reports, the federal government is working to extradite him to Nigeria, where he would face additional charges.

Adebanjo, 93, said Igboho is a “political prisoner” and that the federal government has “no authority” to demand his extradition on Arise TV.
