You Can Now Edit Your WhatsApp Sent Messages (STEPS)

You can now modify messages you’ve already sent in case you make a mistake or simply change your mind.

We’re thrilled to give you more control over your discussions, whether it be to fix a tiny typo or provide more information. Simply hold down the long-press key after a message has been sent and select “Edit” from the menu for up to fifteen minutes.

Edited messages will have the word “edited” next to them, informing the recipients of the correction without revealing the history of the edits. Your communications and any revisions you make are encrypted end-to-end, just like all private calls, media, and texts.

The global rollout of this function has begun, and in the upcoming weeks, everyone will be able to use it.

Here are the easy steps to edit sent messages on WhatsApp:

  1. Open your WhatsApp chat
  2. Long-press on a sent message
  3. Choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after.
  4. Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history.

As with all personal messages, media, and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption.

Recall that parent firm; Meta, recently announced that WhatsApp now has a Password-Protected Message Hiding Option. This will allow WhatsApp users to be able to preserve their “most intimate conversations” with a new password-protected capability to hide messages.

By shifting private exchanges from the default inbox into a folder that can only be accessed with a password or biometric protection, such as a fingerprint, Chat Lock will enable users to “lock and hide” private communications.

Chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said in a Facebook post: “New locked chats in WhatsApp make your conversations more private.

“They’re hidden in a password-protected folder and notifications won’t show sender or message content.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
