Derek Chauvin, Police Officer Who Killed George Floyd, Stabbed In Prison

According to US media sources, Minneapolis former police officer; Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty of George Floyd’s murder, was stabbed in an Arizona prison.

A source close to AP revealed that one of the inmates caused major injuries to the 47-year-old.

The black guy’s death led to widespread demonstrations against racism and police brutality, and Chauvin, a white man, is currently serving several sentences for it.

An inmate in a federal prison in the city of Tucson was stabbed on Friday around 12:30 local time (19:30 GMT), according to a statement released by the Bureau of Prisons.

Employees contained the situation, according to the agency, and the prisoner underwent “life-saving measures” before being sent to a hospital. The prisoner’s name was withheld.

Chauvin is said to have survived the attack, and it is believed that no other person was hurt.

The alleged incident happened a few days after the Supreme Court denied his appeal, in which it was claimed that Floyd had not been given a fair trial in 2020 because Chauvin had knelt on his neck for more than nine minutes.

A bystander’s phone camera filmed the killing, which caused anger throughout the world and led to a surge of protests against police brutality and racial injustice.

Chauvin received a 22-year prison sentence after being convicted guilty of Floyd’s murder. In July 2022, he was sentenced to an additional 20 years for breaching Floyd’s civil rights.
