GWR: Nigerian Lady Surpasses USA’s Hayden Longest Marathon Crocheting Record

Congratulations to Social Media entrepreneur; Okafor Chidinma Modupe, as she surpassed the record of Alessandra Hayden from Washington, USA for the longest marathon crocheting.

Many Nigerians have shown their support for Chidinma over the past few days by encouraging her and providing virtual support as she raised awareness of the nation abroad through social media and physical channels.

They also praised Chidinma for her audacity, tenacity, and resolve to make a stand.

Beginning on Sunday, December 24th, Chidinma crocheted for more than 72 hours, breaking the Guinness World Record (GWR), which was completed on December 27th at GOGE Africa, Maryland Lagos.

The 30-year-old crocheter made a wedding gown in her size specifically for this crochet-a-thon.

Imo State indigene, who is overjoyed with her record-breaking achievement, stated that she had prepared to shatter records since it would fulfill a lifetime dream of hers.

She was able to demonstrate her crocheting abilities at the 72-hour crochet-a-thon, beating Hayden’s record of 34 hours and 7 minutes.

As a show of support, family, friends, and well-wishers, including legendary actress and arts matriarch Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, OON, visited the crochetist during the crochet-a-thon.

Before the GWR team can verify the record is official, it is anticipated that it will receive the proof for its Records Management Team to assess.
