PL Says Date Has Been Set For Man City’s FFP Charges Hearing

Richard Masters, the Premier League’s chief executive, has confirmed that a date has been set for Manchester City’s financial rule break accusations hearing.

The Premier League winners were charged with 115 suspected financial regulatory violations in February 2023, following an inquiry that began in 2018.

MPs questioned Masters on Tuesday morning about many issues concerning the top flight, one of which being the City’s charges.

Masters later acknowledged that a date had been arranged, but added, ‘but I can’t tell when’.

He then stated that the allegations against City have ‘the volume and nature’ of those against Everton and Nottingham Forest, after those two clubs were charged with exceeding Premier League spending regulations on Monday. If found guilty, they risk losing points this season.

City is accused of violating 115 regulations throughout the course of 14 seasons beginning in 2009-10.

The charges include allegations of financial mismanagement and a failure to cooperate with a Premier League inquiry launched in 2018. The City denies any wrongdoing.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
