Relatives Of Alexei Navalny Have Been Denied Access To His Body For Three Days

Alexei Navalny’s team announced today that his mother was “not allowed” into the morgue where his remains might be kept, denying his relatives access to the body for a third day.

Russian jail officials reported that Navalny passed away on Friday following a walk in his Arctic cell.

Despite Lyudmila’s visit to the isolated colony on Saturday, she remains unable to view her son’s remains.

The morgue was visited early in the morning by Alexei’s mother and his attorneys. They were not permitted entry. It was practically a pushout for one of the lawyers. Kira Yarmysh, a spokeswoman for Navalny, posted on social media that “the staff did not answer when asked if Alexei’s body was there.”

Captivating Navalny was the principal political rival of President Vladimir Putin. He passed away three years into his Russian prison term.

His health had declined for months before he passed away in one of the worst jails in the Russian Far North.

President Putin has not yet addressed the passing and he is likely not to.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
