Biden Calls Trump Main Threat To US Democracy

US President Joe Biden has described his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, as the primary threat to US democracy.

In an interview aired Tuesday, April 9, on the leading US Spanish-language TV network, Univision in the Oval Office, when questioned about the “biggest threat to freedom and democracy at home,” Biden responded: “Trump. Seriously.”

Biden spoke to Trump’s support for the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, causing “destruction and mayhem” in an attempt to overturn his two-month-old election loss to Biden.

Trump hailed the January 6 “patriots” who are important to his current election campaign, promising that if won in November, he will pardon hundreds of those convicted to prison for offences such as seditious conspiracy and attacking police.

Biden cited congressional testimony indicating that Trump watched the incident on live television from the White House for several hours without intervening.

“The idea that he would sit in the office… and watch for hours the attack on the Capitol,” Biden said, adding that Trump “uses phrases like you’re gonna… eviscerate the Constitution (and) he’s going to be a dictator on day one.”

“I can’t think of any other time, in my lifetime, in history that’s occurred, that you’ve had somebody who’s had this kind of attitude,” Biden said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
