Young Jonn, a well-known musician from Nigeria, has talked about his switch from music producer to singer.
He revealed some personal thoughts in an interview with Isi Ijewere for her Backstage Banter YouTube series.
Regarding the most challenging aspect of being a vocalist, singer, Young Jonn said, “The hardest part was self-conviction, actually convincing myself that I could do it.” He explained that he often questioned himself on stage, wondering if he really wanted to perform.
A few personal subjects were also covered throughout the interview. Young Jonn stated that he hadn’t cried since losing his mother. He also acknowledged that, in order to feel better, everyone, including himself, occasionally tells oneself lies.
When asked about what he dislikes most in people, Young Jonn said, “I don’t like people who are not true to themselves.” He believes that being honest with yourself is important for being honest with others.
