Hello Great Mothers!

Parenting is a rewarding but very challenging process that takes the strategic and conscious efforts of both parents, even though the onus rests more on mothers.

Every parent desires to nurture their wards to become responsible adults. According to psychologists, we must be dynamic in our parenting styles at different stages of the growth of our children. The strategy used to nurture a toddler is different from the one used for a teenager.

We must use the appropriate parenting strategy at different stages of the growth of our children to yield the desired results. This is necessary because, children’s demands, actions, and developmental stages change as they grow. Therefore adopting different parenting methods at different phases of their growth is necessary.

Tailoring parenting practices to meet these growing requirements can promote their physical, emotional, and cognitive development, assisting them in becoming well-rounded individuals.

The Managerial parenting style involves using a controlled, organized, and goal-oriented approach to raising children. Mothers who use this technique behave similarly to managers in a professional setting, in their parenting approach; in disciplining, advising, and correcting their children.

They focus on setting clear expectations, monitoring progress, and providing direction to ensure that, their children achieve certain goals.

Mothers who adopt this technique mostly follow the following approach in nurturing and disciplining their children;

1) Set clear and defined expectations and rules by creating and communicating explicit standards and expectations for behavior, academics, and responsibilities.
2) Set goals by Set both short- and long-term academic and personal development goals
3) Set routine and structure by maintaining a consistent schedule for homework, housework, and bedtime to provide stability.
4) Monitor and supervise regular performance to track the children’s activities and development.
5) Give constructive comments and emphasize accountability for activities.
6) Encourage the children to solve problems and make decisions to build critical thinking abilities.

Many mothers practice the managerial parenting style, though they may not be aware of it.
