Pavel Durov, The Founder Of Telegram Was Arrested In France On Serious Charges

The CEO and millionaire inventor of the messaging app Telegram, Pavel Durov, was taken into custody on Saturday night at Le Bourget Airport, which is close to Paris.

Durov, a dual citizen of France and Russia, was taken into custody by French officials following the issuance of an arrest warrant for him on charges of money laundering, drug trafficking, and terrorism.

At the time of the arrest, Durov was traveling in his private plane with his bodyguard and an unnamed woman. Significant worldwide attention has been aroused by the circumstances surrounding his detention, especially in light of the possible implications for digital privacy and freedom of expression on platforms like Telegram, which Durov developed and has steadfastly championed as a bulwark of free speech.

The ongoing investigation into Durov’s activities is expected to attract global scrutiny, as it could have far-reaching consequences for the tech industry and the future of encrypted communication platforms.
