Two Men Arrested For Str!pping And Parading Young Girls Over Alleged Theft

The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly str!pping, flogging, and dehumanizing two adolescents over an alleged fowl stealing case.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the spokesperson, confirmed this in a statement released on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

According to Ukandu, the arrests were made in response to the viral video of the event that circulated on social media.

The event took place in November 2023 at the Ojiegbe Ngbo community in the state’s Ohaukwu Local Government Area, but the footage surfaced again this week, eliciting uproar.

In the viral video, the two teenagers were strangled, beaten, and subjected to other dehumanizing practices. The teenagers were then paraded around the village with the alleged stolen fowls.

“The Ebonyi State Police Command has arrested Dennis Ali and Ituma Sunday, the primary suspects in a disturbing viral video where two teenage girls were stripped, flogged, and dehumanised,” the statement read.

“Upon assuming office, CP Anthonia A. Uche-Anya, fdc, emphasised the need to eradicate trial by ordeal, jungle justice, and self-help in the criminal justice system.”

She emphasized the command’s determination to eradicate such practices in Ebonyi State, with the help of stakeholders.

She added that those implicated will face the full weight of the law for their atrocious deeds.
