Native Doctor And One Accused Of Armed Robbery And Kidnapping

A native doctor and another have been taken into custody by Anambra state police on suspicion of operating an armed robbery and kidnapping gang in the state.

SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the command spokesperson, said in a statement issued today, November 23, that the suspects were taken into custody after a rescued kidnap victim testified on November 22, 2024, at 6 p.m., close to Abagana Girls Secondary School.

According to Ikenga, the Shrine of the Native Doctor in Uru, Abagana, was busted by the Joint Security Forces, which included police and Anambra Vigilantes. Two suspects were arrested, while two more were the target of a manhunt. Additionally, one pump action, the victim’s vehicle, rope, horsewhip, and other incriminating things were recovered.

Three Abagana residents, Maduabuchukwu, Ikechukwu Okafor, and Nweze Chijindu, are among the suspects; Supuluchukwu Nweze and Sunday Nwakanze, both of whom are currently at large, are also among them.

Ikenga stated that initial inquiries show that the victim was drawn to the scene by a phone call purportedly made by Sunday Nwakanze.

The victim was taken at gunpoint, stripped of his belongings, and taken to a shrine where he was bound with ropes and had his lips shut.

‘’The two suspects confessed to the crime and are currently assisting the Police with information for possible arrest of other gang members.” Ikenga said.

The Command is still dedicated to making sure that every citizen of Anambra State is safe and secure.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
