Speed Darlington, real name Darlington Okoye, has been arrested again by Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed this in a post on his X account on Wednesday morning, November 27.
He wrote, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a. AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
He went on to say that the artist was arrested after returning to Nigeria to perform.
At the time this story was filed, it was unknown why Darlington had been arrested. However according to Adeyanju, Burna Boy is responsible.
He wrote: “Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has been singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi.”
Recall that Speed Darlington was arrested by Nigerian authorities on October 4 for a video he made claiming that his teammate Burna Boy had a sexual relationship with US rapper Diddy, which is how he broke into the worldwide community.
He was released on bond on October 9 after five days in custody.
Following his release, Speed Darlington traveled abroad and continued to insult Burna Boy.
