Actress Sandra Okunzuwa has described her poignant experience of meeting renowned actress Genevieve Nnaji.
In an Instagram post, Sandra described being shocked and starstruck at her first encounter with Genevieve, who has been a lifelong source of inspiration. She shared how she had always dreamed of meeting and working with the iconic actress.
She wrote, “Over the weekend, I experienced a moment I’ve dreamed of my entire life: I met the Queen, Genevieve Nnaji @genevievennaji. For the first time, I froze. Words failed me as I stood before someone who had been a monumental source of inspiration for me. Growing up, I would often imagine this moment—meeting her, perhaps even working with her someday.
“When I finally saw her, she was everything I had hoped for and more: warm, gracious, and truly lovely. I nervously shared my recent milestone, Something Like Gold, and her response left me speechless. She looked at me with genuine pride and said, “I’m proud of you.” Those words felt like a hug for my soul.
“2025, you’re already unforgettable. This moment is a sign that this year holds so much promise. Standing before one of the most incredible women I’ve admired for years, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and nervous excitement. I had so much to say, but my emotions got the better of me. And then, she said something I’ll never forget: “It’s Black Girl Magic.”
“That meant everything to me. Genevieve, I promise to keep making you proud. From the depths of my heart, I love and appreciate you more than words can express. Thank you for reminding me that dreams do come true.”
