Suspected Cultists Kill Vigilante Member In Rivers

In Rivers State’s Ahoada East Local Government Area, a local vigilante member known as Precious Nnamdi was killed by suspected cultists.

According to information obtained, on Tuesday evening, January 14, 2025, the attackers attacked the victim while conducting a regular patrol along Hospital Road in the Ahoada East Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, the cultists with guns first fired at Precious, but when their bullets were said to have missed their target, they used clubs, iron rods, and other potentially lethal weapons to beat him to death.

“They held him and started hitting him with all manner of dangerous objects until he d!ed. The cult boys then ran into the bush, leaving his lifeless body in a pool of blood,” a source narrated.

According to the source, the deceased, from the Ihuike community in the Ula-Upata Kingdom, was on the accused cultists’ radar prior to the attack.

The incident has caused widespread terror in the area, with many residents fleeing their houses in fear of reprisal assaults.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the event and said a manhunt had been initiated to find the offenders.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was certified dead by the doctor on duty. His body has been deposited in the mortuary, and investigations are ongoing,” the PPRO stated.

“The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered the Area Commander and tactical units to ensure that the culprits are arrested and brought to book.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
