LA Hit With 3.9-Magnitude Earthquake Following Oscars 2025

A tremor shook Los Angeles mere hours after the 2025 Academy Awards event concluded in Hollywood.

The 3.9-magnitude quake hit North Hollywood at approximately 10:13 p.m. on Sunday, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.

Trembling was said to be experienced across miles of LA, spanning areas like Pasadena, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, Torrance, Redondo Beach, and Glendale, according to NBC Los Angeles.

No immediate accounts of injuries or structural harm have surfaced, as per ABC 7.

The Los Angeles Fire Department announced on X that they would not switch to “earthquake Mode” after the seismic event.

“Earthquake mode” refers to when emergency crews search for destruction after a significant quake, including harm to structures and public systems.

The seismic activity occurred just hours following the end of the 97th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Tremors were apparently visible on a live broadcast of an afterparty organized by Vanity Fair at the Wallis Annenberg Center, roughly 4 miles from the Dolby Theatre, according to The Sun.

Over 9,000 individuals on the USGS’ “Did you feel it?” tool indicated they sensed the quake on Sunday.

Guests at an elite afterparty at the Governors Ball at the Ovation Hollywood Complex reportedly felt the shaking from the quake, a source informed the Hollywood Reporter.

Sunday night’s tremor follows a series of quakes that have jolted the Golden State in 2025.

Two earthquakes, measuring 3.7 and 3.5 magnitudes, respectively, struck the Malibu region last month, the city disclosed.

Two quakes registering 3.4 and 3.2 magnitudes took place around noon on Feb. 14 near the city of Hayward, just south of San Francisco, according to the US Geological Survey.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
