Amnesty’s Claims Of Genocide In Gaza Are Deemed “Entirely False” By Israel

An Amnesty International study alleging Israel of perpetrating genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip was declared “entirely false” by Israel on Thursday.

Israel’s foreign ministry released a statement saying, “Another deplorable and fanatical organization, Amnesty International, has produced a fabricated report that is entirely false and based on lies.”

The statement said that it was instead Hamas’s unprecedented October 7, 2023, attack on Israel that was “genocidal”.

“Israel is defending itself… acting fully in accordance with international law”, added the statement.

According to the rights organization Amnesty International, their conclusions were supported by “dehumanizing and genocidal statements by the Israeli government and military officials,” fieldwork, reports from Gazans on the ground, and satellite photos showing the destruction.

Amnesty International called its 300-page study a “wake-up call” for the world community and called on nations to cease arms transfers to Israel. According to an AFP count based on government data, 1,208 people were killed in the October 7 Hamas strike that ignited the war last year, the majority of them were civilians.

According to estimates from the health ministry of the Hamas-run area that the UN considers credible, Israel’s retaliatory attack has killed at least 44,532 individuals in Gaza, the majority of whom were civilians.

According to two Israeli officials cited by the news outlet Axios on Thursday, Israel has sent the Palestinian movement Hamas an amended draft agreement that calls for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the return of several Israeli hostages.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, some ministers, and heads of security services met on Sunday and decided on the new Israeli plan. The document calls for the release of all women, males over 50, and captives in critical health conditions from Hamas captivity, as well as a ceasefire for 42 to 60 days.

Senior Egyptian intelligence officials received the draft deal’s terms and handed them to Hamas representatives during Monday and Tuesday’s meetings; nevertheless, it is unclear how the Palestinian movement feels about the revised framework.
