Breaking News: President Buhari Set To Hold Dinner With Senators Later Today

Nigerian President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has invited members of the Senate to a dinner at the Presidential Villa today (Tuesday) by 8pm.

The Senate President; Ahmad Lawan, read the President’s letter on the floor of the Senate at the commencement of plenary.

Lawan asked his colleagues to arrive the Senate wing of the National Assembly for take off to the Villa by 7pm.

The Senate subsequently suspended its Order to enable the chamber consider the request before the parliament annual vacation.

The Senate President therefore referred the communication to the committee on Finance for necessary legislative action.

Meanwhile, the President, also on Tuesday, forwarded the 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure and Fiscal Strategy Paper for the consideration of the lawmakers.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, read the cover letter on the MTEF/FSP at the plenary on Thursday.

President Buhari said, “It is with pleasure that I forward 2022-2024 Medium Time Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for the kind consideration and approval of the House of Representatives.

“Let me use this medium to express my deep gratitude to your enduring collaboration and commitment of the leadership and honourable members in our collective efforts to sustain the restoration of the January to December financial year.

“On our part, we have worked very hard to sustain the early submission of the MTEF-FSP, to allow the National Assembly sufficient time to review the framework. As the 2022 budget will be prepared based on parameters and fiscal assumptions as the approved 2022-2024 Medium Time Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP), I seek the cooperation of the National Assembly for expeditious action on the submission.”
