Joe Biden Continues To Recover From COVID-19 After Ending His 2024 Campaign

According to President Joe Biden’s doctor, his COVID-19 “symptoms have almost resolved completely.”

Mr. Biden stopped and visited the headquarters of his previous campaign in Wilmington, Delaware during a visit by Vice President Kamala Harris, whose candidacy for the White House Biden has endorsed.

Mr. Biden has supported Ms. Harris’s presidential bid. In an attempt to inspire the staff, the President asked them to offer Ms. Harris “every bit” of their “heart and soul.” In addition, Mr. Biden promised to campaign for his vice president while “out on the road.”

Mr. Biden remarked, “I would be standing there with you if I didn’t have Covid.”

The president was last sighted in public late on Wednesday after landing at a US air base in Dover, Delaware, and testing positive for COVID-19 while campaigning in Las Vegas.

Next, he headed to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where he vacations. Mr. Biden is scheduled to return to the White House on Tuesday afternoon, according to the White House. According to Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Mr. Biden’s doctor, the president proceeded to carry out all of his presidential responsibilities on Monday morning after finishing his tenth dosage of the coronavirus-fighting drug Paxlovid.

“His symptoms have nearly entirely disappeared. Dr. O’Connor wrote, “His temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, and pulse all remain perfectly normal. On room air, his oxygen saturation remains excellent.” His lungs are still clear.

According to the White House, National Security Adviser; Jake Sullivan and Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall gave Mr. Biden separate briefings on Monday. The two briefings took place virtually.

As he recovers from the virus, Mr. Biden’s public itinerary for the coming week has stayed unchanged. However, he stated in his letter on Sunday that he intended to address the country this week to discuss his decision to withdraw his race.

According to a US official who spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of the White House announcement, Mr. Biden will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Thursday.

According to a statement from the group of families who had a private meeting with Mr. Sullivan earlier on Monday, Mr. Biden also intends to meet later this week at the White House with the relatives of Americans who are still being held captive in Gaza.

Mr. Biden would be meeting the families for the second time. Once more, the families made their pleas known, asking Israel and Hamas to reach a ceasefire accord that would free their loved ones.

Late in May, Mr. Biden put up a three-pronged plan that would return the remaining hostages that Hamas had abducted during the October 7th raid on Israel and would result in a long-term ceasefire that would put an end to the nine-month conflict in Gaza.

“We’re going to keep working to an end to the war in Gaza,” Mr Biden said during his call-in to the campaign headquarters.

“I’ll be working closely with the Israelis and with the Palestinians to try to work out how we can get the Gaza war to end, and Middle East peace, and get all those hostages home. I think we’re on the verge of being able to do that.”
