Environmental Sanitation: Mayor Of Umuahia North Fights Journalists

The mayor of Umuahia North local government area, Smart Ihuoma has threatened journalists in Abia State and allegedly called them imbeciles and thieves in a verbal war.

He equally threatened to report journalists to the Director of Protocol to assist him bar them from covering his events and other government functions.

Ihuoma who was battle-ready to beat up the journalists thanks to his body stature, nearly slapped one of the journalists, telling him boldly, “I am an agbero man”, not minding that he was being videoed in journalists’ surveillance cameras.

His vituperative statement started when he insisted that he must be interviewed by the journalists who monitored the monthly sanitation exercise when they had already interviewed the Commissioner for Environment, S.A on Environment, the House Committee Chairman on Environment, Hon. Mba Nwoke, ASEPA DGM Umuahia zone, among others who monitored the exercise.

Ihuoma went on berserk at the Umuahia High Court complex compound calling journalists unprinted words and repulsive ones too, who covered the sanitation names.

However, it was the intervention of one of the environmental officials that stopped Smart Ihuoma from fighting journalists.

Sun FM Aba reports that journalists had observed that Umuahia North local government had neglected to clear the council headquarters, including the grasses.

He further threatened to stop journalists from covering state functions.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
