Wedding guests were left in tears and speechless as a groom chose to break tradition during his wedding and made a touching speech to his bride’s daughter that was recorded on camera.
In a TikTok video, the groom prepared a speech for his stepdaughter to hear as he wrapped up the wedding, and the exchange was tender and emotional.
At the beginning of the video, there was overlay text that read, “When the groom not only marries the bride.” The groom demonstrated that he would not only make a good husband but also a good stepfather after saying his vows to his new bride.
“Thank you all for coming,” he told the room of wedding guests. “There’s one last thing, it’s not really a tradition. It’s not really something that goes within the Catholic church or normal weddings.”
He then approaches the daughter of his bride, picking her up and directing her to the front of the stage. Her mother stands behind them, wiping away her tears as he kneels in front of the little girl and takes her hands in his.
“Not only today did I marry your mom, but I accepted you as my daughter,” the groom says, his voice shaking with emotion. “I promise to always take care of you.”
He gave his stepdaughter a ring as a symbol of his “commitment” to her, promising to “always be there” for her as a father. “I know you’ve wanted to call me dad for a very long time, and we just recently said it’s alright,”
“I promise to care for you,” he continued. “Make sure no boys steal your hearts. And I got all those guys over there to take care of you too,” he added, pointing to the line of groomsmen standing off-screen.
“No one’s going to mess with you. You’re all mine, just like your mom’s all mine. I love you a lot.” The little girl and groom both embrace as the room of wedding guests erupts into applause.
This is so sweet! He will definitely be a good father to the little girl.
