Interior Minister Test Runs E-Gates At Airports

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, tested the electronic gates, or “e-gates,” installed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on Friday, April 19.

The job is now 99% finished, according to Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was joined by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, among other high-ranking government officials.

The e-gates will be operational by next week. The e-gates, which will also be installed in Lagos, Enugu, Kano, and Port-Harcourt, are anticipated to do away with human interfaces, cut down on red tape, and facilitate smooth passenger entry and exit procedures.

He said; “With this massive infrastructure, we believe that no unwanted persons or persons of interests can find their way into Nigeria. Our security through the Airports and in the Airport domains is guaranteed.

“It is a testimony to what Mr President told us from day one on his Renewed Hope Agenda. He asked us to change the narratives and make passengers movements in and out of the country seamless.

“You can see that we have all our team here working in synergy with the authorities of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) the Nigeria Customs Service and other stakeholders.

“I must at this point commend the Minister of Aviation, Hon Festus Keyamo (SAN) and other critical stakeholders who have made this transformation possible.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
