Ireland Executes Large-Scale Deportation Of 35 Nigerians

As part of a coordinated operation led by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), Irish officials have deported 35 people to Nigeria, including nine women and five children, in a major immigration enforcement exercise.

Late on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the deportees were put on a chartered jet that took off from Dublin Airport.

Ireland’s national police force, An Garda Síochána, confirmed the operation’s specifics in a statement.

Five adolescents, nine adult ladies, and twenty-one adult males made up the group, according to the GNIB. Officials confirmed that the kids were traveling in family groups.

“On Wednesday 4th June 2025, the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) carried out a removal operation involving 35 individuals (21 males, nine females, and five children). An Garda Síochána continues to cooperate with the Department of Justice in enforcing the State’s immigration policies,” the statement said.

A more humanitarian, case-by-case approach, according to critics, has to be given priority, especially for vulnerable people who might experience difficulties upon their return.

The mass deportation followed the legal conclusion of each individual’s case, meaning they had exhausted all available appeals and options to remain in Ireland. The operation is part of Ireland’s broader effort to enforce immigration law and uphold removal orders issued by the Department of Justice.

Irish authorities have not disclosed the identities or individual circumstances of the deported persons, citing privacy concerns and data protection regulations.
