Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel Sets a New Standard for Good Governance

In a compelling display of visionary leadership and purpose-driven governance, Hon. Oluwafemi Odunayo Daniel, Executive Chairman of Itire–Ikate Local Council Development Area, has marked his first 100 days in office with remarkable achievements that underscore his commitment to transparency, accountability, and impactful service delivery.

Since assuming office on July 28, 2025, Hon. Odunayo has redefined grassroots governance through people-oriented policies and transformative projects that have rekindled hope among residents. His administration has set a new benchmark for inclusive leadership anchored on passion, integrity, and innovation.

INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT

Within just 100 days, the administration embarked on seven road construction projects across the LCDA’s seven wards — a testament to its focus on even development.
In addition, major renovations are underway at the Itire–Ikate Marriage Registry and the Legislative Building, both being upgraded to meet modern standards.

Notably, the administration also witnessed the commissioning of the Femi Gbajabiamila Junior/Senior Secondary School, facilitated by the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, marking a significant step toward improving access to quality education within the community.

WOMEN’S AFFAIRS & POVERTY ALLEVIATION

Hon. Odunayo’s government continues to prioritize women’s empowerment through multiple initiatives, including:

Hosting of the International Day of the Girl Child

Active participation at the 2026 COWLSO Conference

Several Human Capital Development and Poverty Alleviation Programs are designed to support women’s economic independence and leadership.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT & SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Recognizing that young people are the engine of sustainable development, the administration launched impactful youth-focused initiatives such as:

ICT Training and Industrial Skills Acquisition Programmes

Summer Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training

Provision of industrial machines to support small-scale enterprises

Employment of indigent youths as temporary council staff

Establishment of the Itire–Ikate Environmental Corps, engaging youths in community sanitation and public service.

These interventions reflect the Chairman’s strong belief in youth inclusion, productivity, and self-reliance.

EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

Education remains at the heart of the administration’s agenda. Within the first 100 days:

Over 1,000 students benefited from free GCE forms

A Spelling Bee Competition was organized to promote literacy and excellence

5,000 back-to-school bags, uniforms, and learning materials were distributed to pupils and students from less-privileged families.

Through these efforts, Hon. Odunayo continues to invest in the next generation of leaders while promoting access to equitable and quality education.

HEALTHCARE & SOCIAL WELFARE

Health promotion has remained a key pillar of the administration. Efforts include:

Regular community sensitization campaigns on hygiene, disease prevention, and maternal care

Continuous support to Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to sustain free medical services

Provision of drugs and essential medical equipment across the LCDA’s three PHCs

Plans to establish a modern standard hospital and conduct periodic free medical outreaches.

These initiatives demonstrate the Chairman’s commitment to building a healthy and resilient community.

WELFARE, GOOD GOVERNANCE & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

The administration has prioritized staff and community welfare through:

Induction and capacity-building programmes for the Legislative Arm and Management Team

The first-ever Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum was held across the seven wards

Improved monthly cash palliatives and increased stipends for the Council Workforce. (Political/Career Staffs.)

Regular Financial Assistance to Indigent residents

Procurement of utility buses for NULGE executives, council staff, and community groups.

Hon. Odunayo’s leadership style remains transparent and participatory — personally inspecting ongoing projects and maintaining open communication with residents to ensure responsive governance.

ENVIRONMENTAL SANITATION & CLEANLINESS

Under his leadership, Itire–Ikate LCDA has witnessed massive drainage desilting, waste evacuation, and inner-road rehabilitation projects aimed at preventing flooding and improving mobility.

These consistent efforts have positioned the council among Lagos State’s best-performing LCDAs in environmental hygiene. The Chairman’s active participation in community clean-up exercises further reflects his commitment to a cleaner and safer environment.

COMMUNITY SAFETY & SECURITY

To maintain peace and security, the administration has strengthened partnerships with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and community security stakeholders — fostering intelligence sharing and proactive responses to security challenges.
