Kamala Harris Is Ready To Fight For America’s Future

Speaking to the American Federation of Teachers, Vice President Kamala Harris urged Republicans to “bring it on” in what she called a “fight for our most fundamental freedoms.”

It was her most recent visit during her hectic debut as the Democratic Party’s front-runner for president, following President Joe Biden’s surprise withdrawal of his candidacy for a second term earlier this week.

Ms. Harris criticized Republicans for their stances on public education and gun control while applauding unions as the cornerstone of the middle class. She remarked, “They have the nerve to tell teachers to strap on a gun in the classroom while they refuse to pass common sense gun safety laws,” she said.

Furthermore, Ms. Harris stated, “We want to ban assault weapons, and they want to ban books”.

The first labor group to publicly support Ms. Harris was the American Federation of Teachers, whose president, Randi Weingarten, declared that she “has electrified this race.”

Ms. Harris plans to travel widely to inspire voters and disseminate her message. The outreach takes place while the redesigned Biden campaign—which is now managed by Ms. Harris—figures out how to maximize her time and turn out votes in the more than 100 days leading up to the election in November against Republican Donald Trump.

When it comes to Mr. Trump, Ms. Harris is up against a man who has survived a recent attempt on his life and tens of millions of supporters who are determined to see him back in the White House.

Mr. Trump is attempting to compare himself to Ms. Harris in the same way that she is attempting to do so. At a rally on Wednesday in North Carolina, Mr. Trump launched an onslaught, branding Ms. Harris a “real liberal” and “much worse” than Mr. Biden.

Without providing any proof, the former president asserted that Ms. Harris had deceived voters on the 81-year-old Mr. Biden’s health and eligibility to run for president.

Following a protest in the Milwaukee region on Tuesday and a speech to the historically black sorority Zeta Phi Beta in Indianapolis on Wednesday, Ms. Harris will be attending the teachers union’s biennial conference in Houston.

“We know when we organize, mountains move,” she told sorority members. “When we mobilize, nations change. And when we vote, we make history.”

In an attempt to capitalize on the increasing attention that pop culture is giving her candidacy, her campaign released a music video on Thursday to Beyonce’s “Freedom.” The social media-friendly video highlights three main points made by Harris in his campaign: the freedom to choose an abortion, the freedom from gun violence, and the freedom to “not just get by, but to get ahead.”

The 1.8 million-member AFT has supported Ms. Harris and her pro-union agenda, citing the possibility of money for education being cut and limits on organized labor as consequences of a second term for Trump.

Gentle Reminder: Be careful how you use your authority and influence, be wise, and treat others with respect.
