The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers and nine alleged online fraudsters in the course of its investigation.

On Friday morning at about 05:30 hours, police operatives on stop and search duty apprehended two suspected kidnappers, Rafiu Ganiyu 45 years, of Idi-Ogun Compound in Ganmo, and Mustapha Afolabi 42 years of Beside Ganmo, while they were riding a motorbike along the Ganmo/Omu-Aran route.

According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Mr. Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin on Friday, when a search was performed on them, three locally made pistols and four locally made cut to size firearms were discovered on them.

The suspects were unable to provide a satisfactory account of themselves during interrogation, which increased the assumption that they were on an abduction mission, according to Mr. Ajayi

Additionally, police operatives arrested nine suspected cultists in a similar operation on August 18, 2021, at approximately 09:00 hours, while on patrol in the Malete area. The operation was carried out in response to actionable information that a group of suspected cultists had gathered at an unknown location in Malete at the time of the arrest.

“A team of operatives attached to the command swooped on the location and nine suspects were arrested,” the statement reads.

“In their statements, they confessed to being internet fraudsters and scammers,” he said.

“Some exotic cars, phones, and laptops were recovered from them,” the spokesman revealed.

When the investigations into both crimes were concluded, he stated that the suspects will be brought before a court of law.

Efficacious policing of the state has been assured once more by the state Police Commissioner, Emienbo Tuesday Assayomo, who has also informed the good people of Kwara State that the police are prepared to protect their fundamental human rights while carrying out their duty.
