After being released from jail, an ex-convict who had been caught and sentenced for impersonation and motorbike theft has reverted to his previous behavior.

The ex-convict was caught this time wearing the uniform of the Nigeria Correctional Services, contrary to the prior time when he was apprehended wearing police attire.

On Friday, the Katsina Police Public Relations Officer, SP Isah Gambo, paraded the ex-convict in front of reporters at the state police headquarters, where he was also joined by other suspected criminals.

Shamsu Sani, a 32-year-old ex-convict from Yammawa Quarters in Katsina, is said to be a well-known criminal who specialized in housebreaking and motorcycle theft.

His good fortune ran out just as he was getting ready to pass himself off as an officer of the Nigeria Correctional Services, riding around on a suspected stolen Day-Long motorcycle while donning their outfit.

During interrogation, two individuals to whom he sold the motorcycles were apprehended in due course, and they have also provided crucial information to the police during the inquiry.

“The Command has succeeded in arresting one Shamsu Sani 32, of Yammawa Quarters, Katsina, an ex-convict, a notorious thief, who specializes in housebreaking and theft of motorcycles. Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested wearing Nigerian Correctional Service Uniform and impersonating the agency, with a suspected stolen motorcycle, Day-Long, Red in color, with Reg. No. KTN 266 UX at Kankia LGA belonging to one Lawal Musa, of Bakin Kasuwa Quarter, Katsina.

“In the course of the investigation, two suspected receivers were also arrested and five (5) motorcycles reasonably suspected to be stolen were recovered in their possession. An investigation is ongoing,” the officer said.

In a similar development, the Katsina Police Command, acting on a tip-off, arrested the motorcycle bandit’s associates and recovered five stolen motorcycles from their possession.

Abdulmalik Haruna of Sabon Titi Kwado, Habibu Kabir of Sabuwar Unguwa, Lawal Magaji aka ‘KC’ of Filin Polo, and Hassan Usman, all of Fagge LGA, Kano, along Jibia road, were among the suspects who were also paraded at the police headquarters by the spokesman for the Katsina Police Command.

They were in possession of two motorcycles (a Cargo and a Boxer) that were suspected of having been stolen at the time they were apprehended.

While being interrogated, the suspects admitted to stealing the motorcycles from Alaba Quarters in Katsina, which was where they were staying.
