A man identified as Jamilu Ibrahim a.k.a. “Gerald” has been apprehended by the Niger State Police after being on the agency’s wanted list for nearly two years in connection with the suspected culpable homicide of Tudun-Wada, Kagara in Rafi Local Government Area.

Ibrahim, who has been on the run for some time, was said to be on the Command’s list of wanted individuals, allegedly for the murder of one Alh. Samaila Isyaku.

The suspect, who was 31 years old, was apprehended in Tegina town, Rafi Local Government Area.

According to the state Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the arrest in Minna, the diseased, Alh. Isyaku of Tunga-Bako village was killed by the suspect, Ibrahim, on September 1, 2019, at approximately 4:45 pm, during a political campaign rally for the Local Government Chairmanship in Kagara, Nigeria.

“The suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased to death with a knife and has since been on the run to Gada-kasanga village, Mashegu LGA,” he said.

Following interrogation, the suspect admitted his guilt and stated that he had been accosted by several politically motivated thugs during the rally, which prompted him to take action.

“On the strength of these achievements including the arrest of the five-man gang of bandits in Rafi LG, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, fsi commends the police operatives for these breakthrough achieved and urged them not to relent in the onslaught against banditry and other criminality in the State,” Abiodun stated.

The state Police went on to say that a discreet investigation into the instances would be performed and that the suspects will be prosecuted as a result of the findings of the inquiry.

He said, “The CP Kuryas also call on members of the public to continue in giving credible information about any person or group of persons of a suspicious character in and around their neighborhood to the Police,”
