Manchester City Sign Egyptian Striker Omar Marmoush From Frankfurt For £59m

Manchester City has signed Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for 70 million euros (£59 million).

The 25-year-old has a contract until June 2029 with add-ons of up to £4 million.

Marmoush has 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga games this season, second only to England captain Harry Kane’s 16 for Bayern Munich.

“Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question,” Marmoush said.

“It’s a pleasure and an honour for me and my family to be representing Manchester City. It makes them happy; it makes me happy that my dreams are becoming a reality.

“The last two seasons have been great, but it is just the beginning for me.”

Marmoush, who has played as a striker, a number 10 and a winger, said: “On the pitch I am fast, good on the ball, I try to see where the spaces are and exploit the spaces – and I’m dangerous.

“My main strength I would say is that I always want to win – that is from a character point of view.”

Txiki Begiristain, the city’s football director, said Marmoush has “outstanding pace and awareness,” and his adaptability is a “really valuable asset.”

During the January transfer window, City also bought 19-year-old Brazilian defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30 million and Uzbekistan defender Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34 million.

Marmoush began his career with Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Premier League before joining VfL Wolfsburg in 2020.

He had loan spells with FC St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart before joining Frankfurt in 2023, where he scored 37 goals and assisted 20 times in 67 appearances.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
