Masari Tells PCG Support Group To First Promote APC Before Campaigning For Osinbajo

Aminu Bello Masari, the governor of Katsina State, has urged the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG), a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that is campaigning support for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to place greater emphasis on promoting the party’s performance and achievements before selling its candidate.

Put the wagon before the horse, the Masari says, advising the group to glorify and celebrate the good works of the APC government above any candidate, because the public would want awareness to vote for the party’s candidates again when the time comes.

On Friday, Governor Masari suggested in response to a delegation from the PCG’s who visited him at the state’s government house to seek his counsel in their campaign to have the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, succeed President Muhammadu Buhari to continue with the vision of President in 2023.

He asked the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return to their communities and guarantee that they had credible individuals who will do the right thing for the country at the helm of things.

“So, honestly, in whatever you do, I advise you to market first, what APC has done. Why APC should be elected again in 2023, then who benefits comes second, because, there has to be APC”, the governor said.

“APC has to be strong enough to win an election before we can have a successful candidate.

“What is before APC now is bringing out credible leaders that will do what is right for this country.

“As a party, all of us should go back to our locality and make sure that we have good people leading the party. If we have good people leading the party, the product from their leadership will always be good.”

Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, the chairman of the PCG group, had previously stated that their membership represented all sections of the country, including existing and former Governors, as well as present and previous members of the National Assembly.

Several members of the group believe that Prof. Osinbajo would make an excellent leader, and they are certain that he would raise the party’s flag to new heights and build on President Buhari’s achievements.

According to Ahmed, given Osinbajo’s abundance of experience and capacity, they are confident that his election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will soothe tensions, encourage unity and stability for the nation.

“Prof Yemi Osinbajo is very ably qualified to continue the policies and programs of President Buhari, beyond 2023,” the chairman said.

“This is our conviction and we firmly believe that collectively, all parts of the country should join us on this mission of fielding the best among us come 2023 for a greater Nigeria in line with the dreams of our founding fathers and the aspirations of our people

“It is in view of this development that we at the PCG feel convinced that an Osinbajo Presidency comes 2023 will bring down tension, facilitate unity and stability as well as accelerate further progress in all sectors of the economy.”

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
