Nigeria Is On The Verge Of A Precipice – Falae

The country, according to former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae, is already on the verge of a precipice as a result of the deteriorating security situation and the country’s deteriorating economic status, he claims.

When bandits who were already shooting down military planes were not stopped in their tracks, according to the senior statesman, they would soon get the confidence to negotiate over territory control and take control of the entire country.

When Chief Falae made his remarks, he was speaking in Akure, the capital of the state of Ondo. He stressed that international organizations have said that Nigeria has become the corruption capital of the world, as well as being the unemployment capital and underdevelopment capital of the world, which were indications that things were getting worse in Nigeria.

He said Nigeria had already reached the precipice of the cliff and remains to be seen whether or not they will fall into the abyss below, or will be able to discover a way to step back from the cliff’s edge and save itself, which the answer remains in total mystery.

“For us to pull back, there must be a political initiative that will signal that tomorrow will be better than today. If there is no such signal, I don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow, I don’t know,” he said.

While castigating the current administration for maintaining its position on grazing routes, Chief Falae asserted that the government should be charged with identifying and solving the country’s biggest problems, something that is now being delegated to the private sector.

He said that the government is debating the routes that cattle will take from one area to another and how to set up cattle colonies as if livestock is the only business in Nigeria when the country is on the precipice of civil war.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
