Putin Claims That China Has A Peace Plan For Ukraine When The West Is Ready

    By March 21, 2023

When the West is prepared, a Chinese peace plan might serve as the foundation for an end to the bloodshed in Ukraine, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.  Mr. Putin claimed that so far, none of Ukraine’s western supporters had showed any interest in that in remarks made after discussions with the leader of China, Xi Jinping.  Also, he stated that Britain would be delivering depleted uranium ammunition for battle tanks to Ukraine, signaling a shift in the West’s approach to arming Kiev with nuclear-tipped weaponry.  Without going into any detail, he stated that Russia would react if it occurred. Mr. Xi, who was in Moscow to show support for Russia against the West over the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine, lost some of the spotlight to Japanese prime minister Fumio Kishida’s surprise visit to Kyiv on Tuesday.  The two trips, which were separated by around 500 miles, demonstrated how the nearly 13-month war has affected international diplomacy as nations rally either Kiev or Moscow.  They come after a week in which both China and Japan experienced diplomatic triumphs that strengthened their foreign policies.  While Mr. Xi meets with Mr. Putin for a second day in the Russian capital, Mr. Kishida, who will preside over the G7 conference in May, will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky. In his capacity as the leader of Japan...

Tiktok Updates Its Content Rules As Pressure From The West Increases

    By March 21, 2023

TikTok has revised its policies and guidelines for users and content in response to mounting criticism from western authorities who are worried that content on the Chinese-owned video-sharing  app  may  be  used  to disseminate false information.  A revised set of community rules that the firm published includes eight guiding principles for content moderation choices.  Julie de Bailliencourt, TikTok’s global head of product policy, stated that these guidelines are founded on the company’s commitment to upholding human rights and are consistent with international legal frameworks. The Chinese-owned  app  has  drawn  criticism in the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, where an increasing number of governments have prohibited TikTok from being used on devices used for official business due to concerns that it poses risks to cybersecurity and data privacy or that it could be used to spread false information and narratives in favor of Beijing.  No proof exists that this has occurred or that TikTok has provided user information to the Chinese government, as some of its detractors have said it would.  On Thursday, chief executive Shou Zi Chew is due to testify before the US Congress. He will be questioned about the company’s privacy and data-security  policies...

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
