Report Bullies To School Authorities, Sanwo-olu Advises Students

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday advised students to report bullies to school authorities.

Sanwo-Olu said this while inaugurating four new school infrastructure projects in Lagos State Model College Igbokuta, in the Ikorodu area of the state.

The Governor revealed this via his social media pages, where he described bullying as an “anti-social behaviour”

He wrote, “I also engaged and spoke with students of the school where I told them not to encourage or allow any form of bullying.

“I told the students that bullying is an anti-social behaviour that should be frowned upon when any student becomes overbearing on their mates and partakes in organised intimidation of students.

“I charged the students to immediately report anyone intimidating them to the school authorities.

“Our administration’s choice of school projects is to raise the standards of our schools and ensure that pupils learn under the most conducive environment.

“At the Model College, I handed over an ultramodern 12-classroom block, 182-bed dormitory, reading rooms and a laundromat.”

The Governor also revealed that N122 billion was allocated to education in 2021, stating that the allocation was increased in the 2022 budget proposal.

He said, “In the current year, we allocated N122 billion to education, which is the second largest after infrastructure and delivered over 1,097 projects in 970 schools across Lagos, while ensuring the prompt construction and rehabilitation of 322 dilapidated public schools and provided 87,000 dual composite units of furniture.

“In the 2022 budget, we increased the allocation to education by 22% to N171 billion.”
