Runaways Are Free To Return To The Party, We Have Forgiven Them – Governor Diri

Senator Douye Diri, the governor of Bayelsa State, has stated that the door is still open to people who switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the state’s previous gubernatorial elections, adding that he has forgiven them.

Having revealed that many decampees have returned to the PDP, which serves as their final resting place, Gov. Diri has urged party members to continue reaching out till the remaining decampees are reunited with their families.

He announced the ceremonial commissioning of the new PDP secretariat in Yenagoa, the city’s capital, which took place earlier this week.

The ceremony also marked the beginning of the state’s e-registration program for its members, which was launched at the same time.

At the unveiling ceremony, Diri stated that this signals the beginning of the PDP’s accomplishments and election victories in the state, as well as in the Presidential election in 2023.

He went on to say, “We have forgiven all those that left us, we have so many that came back, but I want you to go and bring back the remaining ones. Bayelsa state is known for internal party politics and we all know it; which means once you get the party flag at any level it is as good as winning the general election itself.

“I will also use this opportunity to commend party faithful for standing by the government of the day and for ensuring PDP is in charge in the state, and also the state working committee for bringing everybody to such a beautiful structure, because once other parties see this, they will give up.”

The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Senator representing Bayelsa Central, Moses Cleopas, the Hon. Fred Obua, a member of the House of Representatives, the Deputy Speaker of the state house of Assembly, Hon. Michael Ogbere, a member of the National Economic Council (NEC), Chief Thompson Okorotie, a serving member of the Board of Trade, Chief Mrs. Remi Kuku, and the state Chairman, Mr. Solomon Agwana
