THROWBACK: Naira, Petrol, Food, Electricity, JONATHAN To BUHARI [Prices Included]

The recent economic downfall in Nigeria ever since the present administration of President Mohammadu Buhari took over from former President, Goodluck Jonathan is alarming and has brought hardship on many Nigerians.

The administration promised better lives for Nigerians as they pushed their popular and catchy slogan, “CHANGE”, as the People’s Democratic Party had been in power, yet did not deliver well enough to please the citizens.

Most Nigerians bought their(APC) story, which has brought us to where we are today with naira at N411 to a dollar and N600 in the black market.

Naira
Goodluck Jonathan met naira at N150 to a dollar in 2011 and handed it over to Buhari at N195 to a dollar. Now naira is N411 to a dollar.

Petrol
Recall that when Jonathan entered power, Petrol was at N64 per liter, He increased it to 140 per liter and the country was on his neck, then he dropped it to N97 per liter. Now Petrol is at N180 to N185 per liter and is estimated to be N1,000 per liter as “Fuel subsidy” has been canceled.

A Bag Of Rice.
A bag of rice was sold at N7,500 on average in Jonathan’s regime, Now a bag of rice cost N25,000 to N30,000.

Electricity Bill
As of 2015, Prepaid meters were not yet in use in the country. However, Electricity bills depending on the home or the structure, the bills are 5X times as much as in 2015.
.
Insecurity
It was during Jonathan’s regime that the occurrence of the kidnap of the chibok girls took place, with the APC blasting and heaping insults on the Former President. Now on a daily basis, communities are being wiped out by suspected herdsmen, children are being kidnapped and huge randoms being required of their parents to secure the release of their children, political, religious, academic, and traditional figures abducted regularly, and repentant Boko haram members being awarded scholarships and automatic total pardon, leaving Nigeria on US “special watch list” for tolerating “violation of religious freedom.”

Education System
Asuu, the Nigerian union of academic staff has been on series of strikes, asking the federal government to pay their salaries. The current administration has promised to attend to the issue but has failed to keep their words for the past two years, but in the time of Former President Jonathan, there was a positive response.

Nigerian citizens are patiently waiting for the 2023 election but the big question is will this country still be standing by 2023?

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
