30-year-old Arrested Over S*xual Relationship With Student

According to authorities, a 30-year-old teacher has been detained after being accused of repeatedly having s*x in a classroom with a 12-year-old student he referred to as his “girlfriend.”

David Augustine Hodge Jr., a 30-year-old, of Florida, USA, was charged on Wednesday, February 1 with four counts of engaging in s*xual activities with a child following the girl’s parents’ discovery of the alleged abuse and reporting him.

According to NBC 6, Hodge, the science instructor and leader of the chess club at West Homestead K-8 Center, was accused by authorities of grooming the child, who is now 13 years old, in October of last year.

He and the girl allegedly began texting and chatting on Instagram about school-related matters until the chats became s*xual, according to authorities.

The girl informed the police that Hodge had eventually begun exchanging naked images with her.

In November, when chess club was over, Hodge allegedly asked the girl to start meeting him in a classroom on Fridays.

According to authorities, he told the student to inform her parents that she was staying late for tutoring.

Hodge is charged with having s*x twice with the girl and numerous other s*xual acts between November and last month.

The young woman admitted to the police that she thought Hodge was her boyfriend and that they were involved in a love and sexual relationship. According to the NBC report, the teacher allegedly confessed when police questioned him.

The girl’s parents reported the accusations, and the school district claimed they fired Hodge and immediately removed him from the campus.

A statement from the district read: “Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply troubled by the disturbing allegations made against this individual.

“As soon as the claims surfaced, the employee was immediately removed from the school setting. After a thorough investigation by the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department, this individual was subsequently arrested. Conduct such as the one he is accused of will not be tolerated.

“As such, the District has initiated employment termination proceedings, and will ensure the individual is precluded from seeking future employment with the District.”

Hodge is being held at the Miami-Dade County Jail following a judge’s rejection of bond on Thursday, February 2.
