43-Year-Old Emir Passes Away In Sleep

Alhaji Mu’azu Muhammad Kwairanga, the emir of Funakaye in Gombe State, passed away peacefully in his sleep.

On Saturday, August 27, the 43-year-old emir passed away immediately after going to bed, according to sources at the Funakaye Emirate Council.

According to reports, the monarch reportedly attended the flag-off of distribution of food items to vulnerable groups by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Pantami on Saturday in Gombe.

He also attended the Kaltungo Central Mosque’s opening ceremony on Friday in the state’s Kaltungo LGA and attended the commissioning of phase I of the recently completed Gombe-Yola Road in Akko LGA.

He was believed to have met with officials of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bidi’a Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) Funakaye branch at the palace till Magrib prayer, which he observed in congregation at the royal Mosque.

“He later retired to his bed, but around 12 am the sad news was relayed to us about the deceased of the emir,” a palace source said.

Mu’azu Kwairanga was named the third Emir of Funakaye on June 2, 2021, 13 days after his elder brother, late Abubakar Muhammad Kwairanga, died.

The deceased elder brother died abruptly on May 20, 2021, just hours after complaining of illness, according to Daily Trust.

Funeral prayers for the deceased will be held at his palace on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

He leaves behind one wife and five children.
