62-Year-Old Herbalist Rapes Minor Brought To Him For Treatment

A 62-year-old man was detained by the Adamawa State Police Command on Saturday, July 23, for reportedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Zagun village, Numan local government area.

The victim was placed under the suspect’s care for treatment, who is a herbalist and has been identified as Godwin Sanda, a native of Zagun village.

The victim’s mother Maryam Abubakar reported the occurrence to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Numan, according to the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Suleiman Nguroje.

The command’s spokesperson said, “Preliminary Investigation reveals, that the victim was suffering from mental disorder and was rushed to the suspect for possible medication by her mother.

“In a twist of event, 62-Year-Old man advised the mother to go back home pending when the victim will recover and it was as a result of the mother’s absence for a period of five days, the suspect had unlawful canal knowledge of the victim which led to her escape from his premises back to her parent’s house.

“The suspect is undergoing investigation by detectives from State CID based on the instruction of the Commissioner of Police CP S K Akande.”

According to the spokesperson, the state commissioner of police has advised the general public, in particular parents, to be wary of suspicious characters in their neighbourhoods and to always seek expert advice before making a decision, particularly when it comes to matters involving the general health of a person.
