62-Year-Old Man Allegedly R@pes His Neighbour’s Daughter

Sunday Falana, 62, of Aaye Oja-Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area, Ekiti State, has been detained for allegedly r@ping his neighbour’s 7-year-old daughter.

The culprit, known in the neighbourhood as Sebukky, was reported to have defiled the minor around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023.

The girl, a primary two student at Saint John Anglican Primary School in the Ilegosi region of Oja-Ekiti, described her ordeal at the divisional police station in the village, explaining that the suspect had invited her and her brother, Segun, to come and eat cooked rice at his flat.

She went on to say that the suspect brought her into the room and allegedly got sexual knowledge of her while her brother was away on an errand.

“The man carried me and put me on the bed inside his room and forcefully removed my pants. When he could not penetrate my private part, he opened his cupboard and brought out something creamy, which he used to rob his private part before he forcefully had carnal knowledge of me,” the minor explained.

The woman stated that she was crying during the process, but the suspect warned her not to cry, threatening to kill her if she told anyone.

According to the victim’s mother, Funke Awolola, she was performing some domestic tasks at home on that Saturday night when her 10-year-old son, Segun, returned home without her sister, Bidemi.

When his mother inquired about his sister’s whereabouts, he informed her she was with “Sebukky.”

She claimed that when her daughter failed to return on time, she went immediately to Sebukky’s residence, but the guy refused to answer the door for them.

“At first, my daughter refused to tell me. Later, she told me that Sebukky undressed her and defiled her. I was mad. She said he initially put his finger into her private parts but on that day, he inserted his manhood into her private part.”

According to the victim’s mother, the matter was reported in the palace of the community’s traditional ruler, where it drew widespread outrage, and then at the Otun-Ekiti police station.

The event was confirmed by DSP Sunday Abutu of the Ekiti State Police Command, who added that the suspect had been detained and would be transported to the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) at the police headquarters in Ado Ekiti for prosecution once the investigation was completed.
