Officers Involved In IKEDC Invasion And Ass@ult Of Staff Will Be Sanctioned – NAF

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has declared that it will probe the events leading to the intrusion of its personnel into the headquarters of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC).

On Thursday, March 6, Air Force members forcibly entered the power company’s premises following the disconnection of electricity at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base in Ikeja, Lagos.

Kingsley Okotie, the spokesperson for IKEDC, stated that the personnel damaged the office, attacked workers, and removed numerous company properties.

Speaking at a press conference, Adeniran Ademuwagun, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Logistics Command, denounced the behavior and promised that corrective measures would be enforced.

“We will investigate what happened and impose appropriate sanctions. The Nigerian Air Force takes the safety of citizens very seriously, and Ikeja Electric should continue providing services without fear of disturbance,” Ademuwagun said.

He labeled the intrusion as regrettable and expressed regret to the leadership of Ikeja Electric, emphasizing the air force’s dedication to professionalism and order.

“The dialogue with Ikeja Electric has been fruitful, and we will continue to work on ensuring our men remain under positive control,” he added. “The Nigerian Air Force is a disciplined force, and any action that undermines our integrity will not be tolerated.”

Kola Adesina, chairman of Ikeja Electric, outlined the scope of the destruction resulting from the intrusion.

“About 200 staff were on-site when the incident occurred. Reports confirmed that 10 individuals were brutalized, and several office assets were destroyed or removed,” he said.

“It was a terrible experience for our staff, and it disrupted our operations significantly. We are grateful that the leadership of the Air Force has responded swiftly, and we believe that justice will be served.”

The event has triggered widespread anger, with demands for responsibility and steps to ensure it does not happen again.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
