LOVE REMAINS OUR TRUE CALLING
Today’s gospel moved me with the leper’s humble act of faith—he prostrated and asked Jesus to make him clean, showing courage despite societal rejection. Lepers were untouchables, yet Jesus reached out and touched them. Saint Damian of Molokai, who lived in the mid-1800s, also cared for the marginalized, living among lepers and eventually dying from leprosy himself. Their sacrifices teach us that loving and self-giving are more important than our well-being, reflecting God’s command to love. Despite medical limits, love remains our true calling.
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Son of God, our heavenly physician help us to love everyone we meet, seeking the best for them and trusting that You are in control. Amen.
