The Author Of Brighter Grammar; Ajibola Ogundipe Dies At 92!

The author of the popular English Textbook ‘Brighter Grammar’; Phebean Ajibola Ogundipe, has died at the age of 92.

Born on May 16, 1927, Ogundipe died in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States of America in the early hours of Friday, March 27 and was buried on the same day she died.

She was Popularly known as P.A Ogundipe, who co-authored the Brighter Grammar series with M. Macaulay and C.E. Eckersley and also co-authored the New Practical English for Senior Secondary series with P.S. Tregidgo.

She was recognized by the Federal Government with the national honor of the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 1979.

She wrote other books including Up-country Girl: A personal journey and truthful portrayal of African culture.

Aside Brighter Grammar, she also co-authored the New Practical English for Senior Secondary series with P.S. Tregidgo and wrote other books, including Up-country Girl: A personal journey and truthful portrayal of African culture.
Mrs Ogundipe (nee Itayemi) was born in Esa Oke, Osun State and got married to Mr Adebayo Ogundipe in 1954. She was educated at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and the Institute of Education, University of London.

Upon her return to Nigeria, she became Senior Education Officer and later the Inspector of Education in the defunct Western State of Nigeria, She later became the Principal of the Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo State.
