Sixth Sunday Of Eastertide

Acts 10:25-26,34-35,44-48
Psalm: 98:1,2-3,3-4
1John 4:7-10
John 15:9-17

In his farewell speech, Jesus urged the Apostles to abide in Him. To abide in Him means to keep His commandments. He said, “This is my commandment, love one another as I love you.” We must ask ourselves, do we genuinely accept Jesus as our new Lord and Saviour?

The second reading of today tells us that God the Father demonstrated His love for us by sending His son so that through Him, we could have life. Eternal life is to believe in, know, and love Jesus, whom God the Father has sent into the world.

Keeping God’s commands demands that we avoid sin, for sin divides us from God and ruptures our relationship with our neighbor. Keeping Jesus’ commandment of love requires obedience and love, total commitment and sacrifice, detachment and repentance, perseverance, faithfulness, and much more. Can we truly offer ourselves to Jesus and surrender all to Him? Can we genuinely love God by also loving our neighbor? Do I love others as Christ wants me to?

PRAYER

Let us strive tirelessly towards overcoming any obstacle to God’s love by allowing the Holy Spirit to direct us rather then rely on our own narrow thoughts and may He continue to grant us his salvation and through us may his salvation reaches to the ends of the earth. Amen.

Do have a wonderful Sunday.
