The Holy Spirit Will Give Us Courage Before Any Persecution

Monday of the 6th week of Eastertide

Acts 16:11-15
Psalm: Ps.149:1b-2, 3-4, 5-6a, 9b
John 15:26-16:4

Today’s gospel, Jesus warns his disciples that, “indeed the hour is coming when anyone who kills you thinks he is doing a holy duty for God’. Persecution of Christians has been a reality that has happened in every time and in every culture. The world today is aware of growing hostility towards Christianity and life for a Christian demands endurance.

The cost of following Jesus demands sacrifice and the cost of bringing Christ to others requires greater sacrifice. If the message of Christ is not accepted then It could lead to persecution and at times martyrdom. Fleeing from persecution and trying to avoid suffering is mere illusion.

In the garden at Gethsamane, Jesus Christ shows us how to immerse our sufferings and pains into the hands of God through prayer. Through prayer, we can listen to God and do his will.

Through prayers, we can move mountains and fill the valleys. Through prayers, we also become like Christ. Let us seek courage and strength to endure from the Holy Spirit so that we can remain true witness of the paschal mystery of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

PRAYER

May the Lord guide and guard you as you journey through this week. May your prayers be answered , may your ways be blessed by the Lord. Amen.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution.”
