Rest In God’s Healing

Wednesday of week 22 in Ordinary Time

1 Corinthians 3:1-9
Psalm 32(33):12-15,20-21
Luke 4:38-44

Today’s gospel message emphasizes the urgency with which Jesus calls attention to the essence of the kingdom of God. His actions underscore the mission mandate, inviting all to repentance, including his disciples in his life, and performing acts of healing and restoration.

The healing of Simon’s mother-in-law illustrates Christ’s power to restore not only physical health but also wholeness. Crucially, Jesus’ restorations are not solely for the benefit of the individuals healed but to enable them to serve others, as demonstrated by Peter’s mother-in-law.

These events affirm Jesus as the Son of God, offering salvation to all who believe in him. Each of Jesus’ miracles embodies an act of love toward the healed individual, demonstrating his thorough understanding of their needs even before they are expressed.

Faithfulness to Jesus ensures that our needs are anticipated and met. Sustaining faith enables us to instill hope and belief in others, demonstrating Jesus’ saving and healing love. May we be guided in bringing God’s mercy and healing love to those in need around us. Amen.
