We Are All Called To Holiness

Saints Andrew Kim Taegon, Priest, and Paul Chong Hasang, and their Companions, Martyrs

1 Corinthians 15:12-20
Psalm 16(17):1,6-8,15
Luke 8:1-3

Today’s gospel passage emphasizes the inclusivity of God’s kingdom, highlighting the diverse individuals who were disciples of Jesus. In addition to the twelve apostles, women also played a significant role as followers of Jesus, with Mary Magdalene notably becoming the first ambassador of Christ’s resurrection.

The author, Luke, addresses a social perception about women and children prevalent in the audience, underscoring Christ’s view that everyone is important, regardless of societal norms.

The devotion of women believers to Jesus is depicted as profound, surpassing their attachment to earthly comforts and even their families. Their love for Jesus is characterized as unshakeable, and resistant to attempts to separate them from their faith.

Today’s gospel passage expresses a longing for a greater capacity to love, reflecting on the limitations of human affection compared to Christ’s deserving nature. Ultimately, it asserts the preciousness of every believer in the eyes of the Lord and the assurance of their preservation in Christ Jesus
