LET JOYFUL HOPE LIFT UP YOUR SPIRIT

The first candle we lit in the Advent wreath symbolizes hope, and next Sunday we will ignite the peace candle. Today’s readings offer profound insights related to these themes. In the first reading, we encounter a prophetic image of a shoot springing from the root of Jesse, which suggests the emergence of new life and promise. The responsorial psalm further evokes the anticipation of the Messiah’s arrival, marked by justice, while the gospel recounts Jesus being imbued with the joy of the Holy Spirit.

Christ articulates the essence of discipleship and the imperative of aligning oneself with divine will. The call to discipleship necessitates a prioritization of Christ at the core of our existence, often superseding even familial ties. The journey of following Christ is not trivial; it demands careful consideration and commitment. Ultimately, those who respond to this call are promised significant rewards.

If confronted with the directive to abandon all and follow Him, what would pose the greatest challenge? What holds the utmost significance in your life? It is incumbent upon every Christian to engage with and fulfill the will of God. As stated in Isaiah 26:3, “The Lord grants peace to those whose faith is firm.” Engaging in the will of God means standing upon a foundation that is steadfast and unwavering.

During this Advent season, let us collectively seek the fortitude to collaborate in establishing the peace of Christ, courageously overcoming any divisions that hinder our unity.

Today's Quote

“A lot of companies have chosen to downsize, and maybe that was the right thing for them. We chose a different path. Our belief was that if we kept putting great products in front of customers, they would continue to open their wallets.”
