A DAY OF HOPE AT THE NATIONAL STADIUM: Gbajabiamila’s Mega Empowerment Lights Up Surulere
… Hon Odunayo graces the occasion in grand style
It was not just an event, it was a festival of hope.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, turned into a sea of colours, music and jubilation as the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, hosted the 2026 Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme.
Amid the fun-fare and mammoth crowd, the Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo graced the occasion flanked by aides, to a warm reception from constituents and party faithfuls. His presence underscored the strong grassroots solidarity between Surulere’s leaders and the Renewed Hope agenda.
And what a day it was.
Over 5,000 residents of Surulere went home smiling as empowerment items worth millions were distributed: e-hailing electric cars, mini-buses, tricycles, security patrol vehicles, an ambulance, laptops, and cash grants to boost small and medium-scale enterprises.
For market women, youths, artisans and struggling families, it was more than gifts, it was capital, it was mobility, it was dignity restored.

Beyond the empowerment, the event carried deep political significance. Gbajabiamila used the occasion to reaffirm his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring he had been cleared of all allegations by the Police, DSS and ICPC, and that no amount of blackmail would distract him from the President’s work.
Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also charged Surulere residents, with over 500,000 registered voters, to deliver at least 380,000 votes for APC and re-elect President Tinubu in 2027. 703d
Why does this matter?
Because true leadership is measured at the grassroots. While Abuja makes policies, it is programmes like this that translate Renewed Hope into garri on the table, into a keke for a young father, into a laptop for a student, into startup capital for a widow.
Hon. Oluwafemi Daniel Odunayo’s attendance was not ceremonial. It was a statement: Itire-Ikate LCDA stands with progressive empowerment, stands with Surulere, stands with Tinubu.
As the drums rolled and beneficiaries danced with their keys and cheques, one message echoed across the stadium: *the change we need, the voice we deserve, is here, and it empowers.
