The wait for Adele’s new music is finally over!

Adele drops her first new music in almost six years after the release of her last studio album “25.” The British singer-songwriter dropped a new song titled “Easy on me,” alongside the music video.

In the song, Adele talks about the passage of time and the feeling of being stuck in a relationship on a gentle piano melody. The music video, which begins in black and white, begins with the same location Adele used in her video for her 2015 hit single “Hello”. In “Easy on Me”, Adele takes a phone call on a windy day before climbing into a truck and driving down a country road. Sheets of music fly off the back seat as the cassette tapes play. Eventually, color seeps into her world.

“Come on me, baby,” she sings. “I was still a kid / I didn’t get a chance to feel the world around me / I didn’t have time to choose what to do / So go easy on me.”

“Easy on Me” comes a day after Adele announced on social media that she was set to release “30” on November 19th. In the announcement, Adele said that she started work on the album about three years ago.

“I’ve learned so many bitter truths about myself along the way,” she shared in a statement on Twitter and Instagram on Wednesday.

“I’ve let go of many layers, but have wrapped myself in new. Discovered a really useful and healthy mindset to lead, and I feel like I’ve finally regained my spirit. I would even say that I’ve never felt more peaceful in my life.”

Since her last studio album dropped in 2015, Adele has married and divorced Simon Konecki. In her statement, she referred to her album as the “friend” that got her through “the most turbulent period of my life”.

“And then that friend who didn’t mind checked in on me, even though I stopped checking in with them because I was so consumed by my grief. I’ve since rebuilt my home and my heart.” And this album tells it,” she wrote.

Adele filed for divorce from charity CEO Konecki in 2019. She and Konecki, who live across the street from her in Los Angeles, share a 9-year-old son, Angelo.
